It started with a gap I couldn’t ignore.
Prehearsal began as a passion project called Pause end of 2025. I had been public speaking for eight years, but the only time I could access a professional speaking coach was when a previous employer paid for one for our team.
When I explored hiring a coach myself, I discovered how expensive individual coaching could be, sometimes costing hundreds or even thousands of dollars. For most professionals, that simply isn’t accessible.
I started building Pause because I wanted more people to receive useful, specific feedback on how they speak, not only those with generous company budgets, executive coaches, or venture funding.
Then the problem became bigger.
The first version focused on public speaking. But as I spoke with users and considered when communication affects our lives most, I realised that public speaking comes much later, its the business speaking that happens every day.
It happens when you ask your manager for a raise or when you explain an idea in a meeting, handle a difficult client conversation, interview for a role, present a sprint demo, or pitch your company for the hundredth time.
These moments may never happen on a stage, but they can shape a career or a company. I wanted to build for those conversations first.
