This policy covers the Prehearsal app on iOS and Android, the web version of the app, and the prehearsal.app website.
Rehearsal data. When you record a session, the app captures your microphone and, in video sessions, your camera. Audio is streamed live to our transcription provider and discarded; we do not store raw audio on our servers. Video is saved temporarily on your device during the session and is not uploaded. We store the text transcript of what you said, the feedback and metrics generated from it, the scenario you practiced, and session details such as duration and date.
Speaking profile. Details you choose to give us so we can tailor scenarios and feedback, such as your role, industry, the kinds of speaking situations you want to practice, and what you want to improve.
Account data. If you create an account: your email address, or the name and email shared by Google or Apple when you sign in with them. We do not receive your Google or Apple password.
Anonymous trial. You can use Prehearsal before creating an account. We create a random identifier for your device so your trial sessions stay together. It is not linked to your name or email. If you sign in, your trial sessions move to your account. If you do not, the trial identifier and its sessions are deleted after a period of inactivity, typically 30 days.
Subscription data. If you subscribe, Apple or Google process the payment. We receive a subscription status and an anonymous purchase identifier through RevenueCat. We never see your card details.
Usage and device data. App version, device model, operating system, language, country (from IP address), crash reports, and events describing how you use the app (for example, which screen you opened or that you finished a session). We use this to fix bugs and understand which features help.
Support messages. Anything you send us by email.
We do not use your recordings, transcripts, or profile to train third-party AI models. Our AI feedback providers (Google and OpenAI) do not use data sent through their APIs to train their models. Our transcription provider processes audio only to return the transcript and does not store it.
Practice scenarios (the situation, the prompt, and the hints) are generated by the app, sometimes using details from your speaking profile such as your industry or role. Scenarios do not contain your recordings, transcripts, or feedback. We may reuse a scenario for other users and may publish scenarios on our website so people can try them. Avoid putting personal or confidential information in your speaking profile if you would not want it to shape a scenario that others see.
Your rehearsals are private. No other user can view your recordings, transcripts, feedback, metrics, or speaking profile. There is no feature for sharing them, and we do not show them to anyone else.
We do not sell personal data. We share it only with service providers that help us run Prehearsal, under contracts that limit them to working on our behalf.

We may also disclose data if the law requires it, to protect our rights or users' safety, or as part of a merger or acquisition (we would tell you first).
Prehearsal is used by people around the world. Our servers and most of our providers are in the United States, and our transcription provider is in the European Union. By using Prehearsal, your data is transferred to and processed in those countries, which may have different data protection laws from your own. Where the law requires it (for example, for users in the EU, UK, or Switzerland), we rely on standard contractual clauses or equivalent safeguards with our providers.
If you are in the EU, UK, or Switzerland, you have these rights under the GDPR and can complain to your local data protection authority. If you are in California, you have the rights described in section 10. If you are in India, you have rights under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, and can contact our grievance officer at support@prehearsal.app. We honor these rights for all users, wherever you live.
Prehearsal is not for children under 13 (or under 16 where local law sets that age). We do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has given us data, email us and we will delete it.
We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. You have the right to know what we collect, to delete it, to correct it, and not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights. Use the account deletion feature or email us.
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest with our providers. Access to production data is limited to people who need it to run the service. No system is perfectly secure. Sign-in uses one-time email codes or your Google or Apple account, so keep access to that email or account secure.
We will post updates at prehearsal.app/privacy.html and change the date at the top. For material changes we will tell you in the app or by email.
